Scientists have found a terrifying prophecy: the death of the Pope is a harbinger of the end of the world

Some consider Pope Francis to be the last Pope according to this prophecy, as "Peter the Roman" is viewed as a symbol of the end of the papal era.
What the document tells about:
The prophecy includes one hundred and twelve phrases about Popes, and one interpretation points to the year two thousand and twenty-seven as a possible year of the end.
The last description of the prophecy speaks of "Peter the Roman," the destruction of Rome, and the Last Judgment after the final Pope, whom some consider to be Francis.
The death of Pope Francis has once again sparked great interest in the mystical document attributed to Saint Malachy - an Irish bishop from the twelfth century. It concerns the "Prophecy of the Popes," which is believed to predict the end of the Catholic Church and the end of the entire world, reports Euronews.
This text, known by its Latin name Prophetia Sancti Malachiae Archiepiscopi, de Summis Pontificibus, was discovered in the Vatican archives in fifteen ninety by monk Arnold Wion. It consists of one hundred and twelve short Latin phrases, each supposedly symbolizing one of the Roman Popes, beginning with Celestine II.
Historians studying these prophecies pay special attention to the enigmatic phrase associated with Pope Sixtus V: "Axis in the midst of the sign."
This phrase is interpreted as the temporal center of the line of pontiffs: four hundred and forty-two years before and after the reign of Sixtus V point to the year two thousand and twenty-seven as a possible date for the end of the world.
The final entry in the prophecy warns of tragic events that should occur after the reign of the last Pope.
"During the final persecution of the Holy Roman Church, Peter the Roman will reign, who will feed his flock among many tribulations, after which the city of seven hills will be destroyed, and the Dreadful Judge will judge the people. The End," the prophecy states.
Obviously, the "city of seven hills" refers to Rome. And "Peter the Roman" in researchers' interpretations is viewed not as a specific person, but as a symbolic image of the end of the papal era. That is why some consider Pope Francis to be the last Pope.
These prophecies have been repeatedly used in literature: in particular, they are mentioned in the novels "The Third Secret" by Steve Berry and "The Doomsday Key" by James Rollins.
At the same time, the scientific community approaches this prophecy with great caution. Some scholars believe that the text was created in the sixteenth century to promote a specific candidate for the papal throne.
Scientists often cite words from the Bible as a counterargument:
"But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father" (Gospel of Matthew, chapter twenty-four, verse thirty-six).
