Man sued clinic that made him a father "against his will"

A resident of Poland has sued an in vitro fertilization clinic where the procedure was performed on his former partner without obtaining his official consent.
This is reported by the newspaper "Rzeczpospolita".
According to the published information, the couple planned to use the services of this clinic, but soon after their relationship ended in a breakup. After the separation, the woman decided to use her former partner's genetic material without his consent. In order to carry out the procedure, she possibly forged his signature.
After some time, the man, who had not planned to become a father, learned about his former partner's pregnancy. Understanding that after the child's birth, the woman could demand child support payments, he decided to seek compensation from the clinic where the in vitro fertilization was performed. The man intends to recover the amounts he would have to spend to satisfy possible financial demands from his former lover.
Attorney Monika Vishnevskaya explained that the number of such cases is increasing worldwide. A special term has even emerged to denote this phenomenon - "forced fatherhood." According to the lawyer, courts in Poland have not previously considered such lawsuits. Nevertheless, there is a possibility that the clinic will be held liable based on the provisions of the Civil Code and required to pay compensation to the injured party who did not participate in the procedure.
