As part of the reforms carried out by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan, a process of teacher certification is being implemented to improve the quality of education in the field of music and art, as well as to increase the professional level of teaching staff.

As reported by BAKU.WS, this was announced by the department.

It was noted that the certification was organized on the basis of relevant regulatory and legal documents and requirements of current legislation, and at the initial stage covered Baku and the Absheron-Khyzyn region. At this stage, 1,759 teachers of piano and music theory working in 47 music and art schools participated in the certification.

"The assessment was conducted by certification commissions, and the level of knowledge, skills, and methodological preparation of teachers was evaluated according to various criteria.

About 1,200 teachers successfully passed the certification, of which 650 received the highest rating, being positively evaluated by all members of the commission, 309 showed high results. It is gratifying that teachers hired through competition in recent years have successfully passed the certification. Also, the teaching staff of several music and art schools completed the certification process with great success," the information states.

It was also noted that based on the certification results, 492 teachers were deemed not suitable for their positions, of which 112 were evaluated with 2 votes "for" and 3 "against".

"In order to create additional opportunities for the development of these individuals, they are planned to be involved in a special training program.

On the instruction of the Ministry of Culture, the Scientific-Methodological and Qualification Center for Culture has developed special developmental training programs for these teachers in the areas of piano, music history, and theory in accordance with the training needs identified by the certification commissions. The main goal of the training is to update the professional knowledge and skills of these teachers, strengthen their methodological preparation, and support them in achieving successful results in the employment examination.

The training will be conducted in stages, starting from May 1, 2025, according to a pre-arranged schedule. Participants will be provided with appropriate training materials and a program, and classes will be conducted by experienced teachers and experts in the field.

In the coming days, participants will receive notifications about the start of training," the department noted.
